COVID 19 – Latest News
March 13, 2020
Dear Members,
As a valued member of our gymnastics community, we wanted to reach out regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our community and families.
We would like to reassure you that we are adhering to the CDC Guidelines as the health and wellbeing of our students, their families, and our staff are our top priority. We will continue to monitor and implement the local, provincial, and federal recommendations as they’re announced.
York Region public health has provided updated information on their website. Please visit www.york.ca/covid19 for updates.
Gymnastics Ontario announced today that they are cancelling/postponing all Gymnastics Ontario sanctioned competitions. They will re-evaluate the situation after April 5, 2020.
At this time Aspirals remains open and will proceed with our regular schedule after March Break. Each family is encouraged to make their own decision about coming to practice, please do what you feel comfortable with and what makes the most sense for you and your family.
We ask all the families that are traveling out of the country during March Break, by plane or car, to refrain from training for 14 days upon your return to Toronto. We will offer make-up classes during the summer to those members who notify the office in writing.
How you can help:
- Don’t send your child to the gym if they are sick or if a family member is sick.
- Don’t break any formal quarantine/government restrictions.
- Encourage your child to cough and sneeze into their arm not in their hand.
- Alert us if your child does have COVID-19 and have been to the gym within the last 14 days so we can contact their peers.
- Do not share water bottles
- Wash your hands upon arrival to the gym and at the end of class
- Minimize your time in the viewing area and avoid bringing siblings who are not participating in a gymnastics class to the facility.
Prevention Steps at the gym:
- Our coaches will encourage frequent handwashing (for at least 20 seconds before rinsing).
- Deep Cleaning: Each weekend we are deep cleaning our gymnastics centre.
- Sneezes and Coughs: We are encouraging gymnasts to cough and sneeze into their arms, not in their hands.
The well being of our gymnasts and families is a top priority! Please know that we are here to address any concerns or issues. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with our members as the need arises.
Sincerely,
TA Admin Team
