Rhythmic gymnastics is a combination of ballet, challenging gymnastics and modern dance. You dance a particular exercise and in this exercise you use certain materials. Rhythmic gymnastics is magnificent to watch and absolutely fantastic to participate in. The materials you use with rhythmic gymnastics are; a ball, a rope, a hoop and a ribbon.
- The ball: Weighs 400 gram and has a diameter from 18-20 centimeters. The ball is made of either rubber or synthetic material.
- The hoop: Weighs 300 gram and has a diameter from 80-90 centimeters. The hoop is made of either plastic or synthetic material.
- The ribbon: It is 4-6 centimeters wide, it has to be minimal 6 centimeters long and the ribbon has to be on a little stick of 50-60 centimeters long. The ribbon is made out of satin.
As you can see there is a variety of materials you can use with rhythmic gymnastics. The materials are small and light which make rhythmic gymnastics for kids accessible and fun. Rhythmic gymnastics is good for kids and also very entertaining. Students will learn how to be competitive in a friendly way. They will practice becoming more flexible and they will learn how to master several dance moves each time they participate in a rhythmic gymnastics class.
